God created directions to describe location of deferent objects this universe. A story regarding the creation of directions can be found in the 21st chapter of “Varasha Purana” There was no support of magnitude to the universe.  when it was formed. There was a need for measure to understand the position of each thing in the universe.
Thus 10 directions were formed. Among them there are four main directions i.e. North (Uttar), East (Purva), West (Paschim) and South (Dakshin) and four sub directions North-East (lshaanya), South-East (Aagneya), North-West (wayavya) and South-West (Nairutya) remaining two are Hell and Heaven. This is of course a mythological reference; it does, not have any connection to any religion. These 10 directions are providing perfect direction to the mankind in locating each & everything in these universals.             

   The sub directions also have a special name assigned to them just like ' the main directions. India is the only country having proper names to the sub directions. We understand the importance of sub-directions. So we have given special names to them. A sub direction means a direction arising the union of two directions. This direction is a mixture of all qualities of both the directions.
The name of the direction itself suggests the nature of the direction. For example, East (purva) means just grade, West (Paschim) means after i.e. coming afterwards; North (Uttara) means where there is an answer to everything. South (Dakshin) means slowly weakening, North-East (Ishaanya) ' means God, place for water element. South-East (Aagneya) means the place for fire element and North-West (Wayavya) means the place for Air element, and South-West (Nairutya) means the Nairuti (Demon) region of negative energies.

East (Purva):  For every human-being day activities begin with sunrise. Sunrise means east, where the darkness disappears and light begins. Morning sunrays are fully be enriched with ultra-violet rays which are highly beneficial for human-body. East to direction is very advantageous prosperity oriented.

1. There should be entrance, living room, study, temple, and bathroom, open spaces slope in East which is considered as auspicious and beneficial& the entrance on the East side is auspicious.

2. A locker or treasury is beneficial if it opens towards the East, North or North East direction.

3. If two families of the same lineage are living in the same plot then the entrances of two individual Vastu must be in the East side of the individual Vastu, and they should be separate.  

4. There is loss of health, loss of wealth and no academic progress, if kitchen, toilet or cut is in the East, North East or North.

5. If the East direction is elevated than the northeast, West, South- west and North-west directions and if there is toilet, garbage bin, stones in this direction then one suffers from diseases like eye r diseases, head disease etc. one also faces loss of authority.

6. Children face difficulty in their academic progress if the toilet is in East direction.In short if there is any vastu defect in the East direction like KitchenToilet, cut, elevation, staircase going upwards or downward steps, high rise walls and less open spaces then there is loss of health, loss of wealth hindrances in academic progress. This effect is called EAH - effect is called EHA- effect where E stands for emoluments, A for Academic & H for health. 

 West (Paschima): This direction can be explained in a single word that is West = Waste. A person with west entrance to vastu very less success in spite of a huge effort. Among the eight directions we have to worry a lot a West direction or can feel pity for this direction. Success always eludes the Vastu which direction. People living in this direction always face poverty, failure, lack of interest.They are always in debt and are always in it get success in selling this property or even giving a rent.   
   The West direction is more beneficial to women, one can say. Women can expect moderate success from this direction. A business related to women or in their name can prosper in this direction. If the Vastu is purchased in name of a woman it can give better success. If there are too many windows or doors and sunrays are entering the Vastu, then use of thick cotton curtains with red colour is necessary. This ensures that the Infra red rays are absorbed in the curtain and the Vastu is protected. Otherwise the atmosphere in the Vastu becomes dry, lifeless & without any excitement, which is very harmful to the human being.

 1. The elder son or brother's bedroom, storage, toilet, dining hall, staircase even septic tank should be in the West direction.

2. It is beneficial to have overhead water tank & the staircase in the West direction.

3. Office in the West direction is good as a second option.

4. It is beneficial to have garage in the West direction.

5.  It is harmful if there is electric motor, meter, T-junction, pit, well in the West direction.  

North (Uttar): The ruling planet of this direction is mercury. This planet is favorable for business and intelligence. According to the scientific perspective north is a polarized center of positive ions of electro- of magnetic force of the earth. The effect of ultra violet rays in the morning sun rays is good over here.  So it is best to have maximum open space and slope, in this direction, So that it absorbs maximum ultra violet rays and thus leads to a pure atmosphere which then leads to an excellent work and success. North means Lord Kubera abode which is beneficial for cash / treasury or valuable items. The door of the treasury should open towards North-East, East direction.   

  In commercial vastu the accounts department and work related to cash receipt and payment should planned be in the North. The reception, general administration should in the North-East. Marketing, sales, and department in the soon should be in North-West. In an industrial set up machines of less weight, work related to packaging, processes related to water, open space is better in this direction.

1. It is auspicious and there is financial gain if there is slope & well or tank on North side.

2. In the case of a division of estate between two brothers the elder should live in south side and the younger in North direction.

3. There is a loss wealth & prosperity if there is heavy construction in the North direction.

4. It is inauspicious to have garbage bin & toilet in the North.

5. There is a financial loss and health problem if the staircase is in North direction. If a floor is constructed on the border of North direction. It leads heavy financial loss & bankruptcy.  

6. If is inauspicious to have the kitchen & there is a threat of accident from machine based on fire element in North. 

 North-East (lshaanya): North - East means the direction of God. It is very blight, worshiping and giving lot of success. It is positive.Three things are very important in this direction: they are entrance, water and worship. First priority is given to entrance. Second and third priority is given to water & the God's shrine respectivelyIf the entrance of your Vastu is in the North, North-East or East then bathroom, God's shrine and living room can be accommodated in the North - East region.    

The direction has the capacity of giving intelligence, knowledge, prosperity, wealth progeny, success, health and good life. A water reservoir in North east direction means guarantee of successes. Every project work should start with an underground water tank in this direction.You should definitely buy a plot, which is extended in the North East direction it is very beneficial.  The vastu develops defends of North-East direction if there are wrong things in this direction instead of things that are expected. These defects can give rise to three kind of bad effects; they are decrease in emoluments, health problem & lots of obstacles in academic growth. This effect as an EAH Emoluments, Academic and Health effect.  

1. It is auspicious if the slope & open space is on North-East direction.

2. It is auspicious to have a street or T-junction in front of the entrance in North East direction even underground water tank well in this direction.

3. At the time of division keep the south-west direction and give away the North East direction, this ensures our superiority. 

 North-West (Wayavya): The air element exists in this direction as the name itself suggests. This sub direction is between at, 45 degree as per the magnetic compass. The atmosphere in an airy and ventilated house remains clean and fresh. Otherwise the Vastu becomes stuffy & the atmosphere becomes very gloomy. This makes life unbearable. Wind carries smell; it also carries nice refreshing sound waves.   

 The North West direction has a lot of effect on interpersonal relationships, friendliness & co-ordination. According to Vaastushastra it is better to have preferences for bedroom of elder son or guest room, study room, dinning hall, toilet, storage place for domestic animals, septic tank and staircase, in this direction. In this case of commercial premises the attractive display of Goods & service to be sold or sales promotion materials should be kept in this direction.  

1. The intensity and frequency of quarrels or differences of opinion in more if the kitchen or master bedroom is in the North West direction.

2. There are chances of conflict among people living in a Vastu where there is pit, water, underground water tank in the North West direction of that building. This fault in the Vastu may leads to court cases.

3. Extension in North West creates problems in partnership business.

4. It is harmful to have basement in the North-West direction, otherwise it can create fights, police case, court cases due to financial dentin in or commercial matters.

5. The defect in North West direction can create delays government work.

6. There is less cc-ordination and team spirit among people who working in commercial or industrial premises with faults in North West direction. The planning of any work becomes unsuccessful. There unrest and unpleasantness among the workers.  

1. It is beneficial if the South direction is on a higher level & it is auspicious to have overhead water tank in this region.

2. The staircase on the south side is beneficial.

3. At the time of distribution of property the portion of the estate on the south should be given to the elder brother and the portion on the north should be given to the younger brother.

4. It is very bad to have a basement in the South direction & It is very painful to have s street or T-junction in the South direction.

5. It is not advisable to have septic tank, dining hall and kitchen in this direction. 6. It is inauspicious to rent the vastu which is in the south direction. The tenant settles down and becomes arrogant and dominating.  

1. It is very much beneficial to have kitchen in South-east which has strong scientific reasoning & the South of South East entrance is positive.

2. Electrical instrument, main-switch, transformers, Electric sub- station electric motor, generator, UPS battery inventers, air conditioners, refrigerators, oven and all other fire base instrument should be placed in South- east.

3. In a commercial Space the staff quarters should be in South East direction.

4. It is very harmful if there is a well, a pit or an underground water tank in the south East direction. It causes loss of wealth, theft and fear from fire.

5. It is harmful to have toilet, septic tank in the South East direction. It causes diseases and illness.

6. South- east being a prominent work centre for women it must be perfect.from the vastu perspective otherwise it disturbs their performance level due to which entire family gets disturbed.

7. In case of commercial offices purchase legal R & D recover department are best to be placed in this direction. 

This region gives confidence, leadership, dominating attitude to the in charge of house. Because South West means region of demons which means maximum resistance and problems which in turn develops attitude of fighting spirit to overcome the problems. Similarly master bedrooms in South West with head towards south while sleeping maintain proper blood-pressure cardiac performance as well as proper digestion which lead to healthy and strong mind.  

1. In commercial business head will sit in the South West direction & facing North or east Due to this position he gets a Strong hold and good command over business. This also gives financial stability and one can progress in life without financial problems and obstacles.

2. An overhead water tank in the South West direction is always good.

3. It is beneficial to rent out the place in the South West direction.

4. In case of sharing of property between two brothers the elder should stay in south west part and the younger should stay in the North east part.

5. It is very harmful to have a basement in the South West direction and it is also bad to have a street in front of the entrance.
