The Five Elements of Universe  

              Universe is made up of five elements namely earth, sky, water, fire wind. These five elements are self generated. No one can create or do them. These five elements come together in different forms and create different forms and create different manifestations in our world. Later on, these manifestations decay or diminish into five elements. Let us see the creation of these five elements, existence, characters, and their effects on human life in other words relationship with Vaastushastra.

Earth: Earth is a huge planet and its diameter is 12720 Km. the electromagnetic waves passing across North and south directions thus it the creation of two poles namely the North Pole and the South Pole. A typical imaginary line known a Equator is drawn at centre of earth, dividing earth two equal parts namely North-hemisphere & south-hemisphere. These hemispheres further divided into sub parts with the help of tropic of cancer and tropic of Capricorn.
Further with the equidistant horizontal & vertical lines called longitude & Latitudes are drawn which help to locate particular destination on the planet earth. Out of the total area of earth 29% area is occupied with land whereas the remaining 71% is occupied by sea. The earth rotates around itself and also revolves around sun. 

The earth takes 24 hours to rotate around itself & takes 365 days to revolve around the sun.  During this due to summer (uttarayan) & winter (dashkinayan) causing summer & winter on the earth as well as up to 23 degrees variation in sunrise position in East.     The direction where the sun rises is considered as east and where the sun sets is considered as West. There are sub - direction in between North, South, East and West. Each one of the five elements has occupied respective position for them in each of these sub direction and the sky element occupy centre portion of all the eight direction.  

Water: Out of the total area of the earth 71% area is occupied by sea. This is in form of oceans (Pacific, Artic, Atlantic, Indian etc.) and different seas (i.e. Arabian, Black sea, Caspian Sea, the sea of china) and Creeks River, Lakes-ponds, Wells and Bore well. Human being can sustain without food for some days but can not sustain without water except for few hours. The water element is present in the form of blood and moisture within the skin and cells inside the human body.
We receive water on earth through the water cycle which is a continuous process. The heat present in the sun rays evaporates the water of lakes and when the dust particles are mixed with these vapors lead to formation of clouds. Due to effect of atmospheric temperature and pressure thunder activity make clouds to share the water on the earth in the form of rain. The presence of underground water in North East is sign of prosperity and its presence in South West leaded to disastrous effects.  

Fire: Fire element is a self existing form of energy and the main source of energy is in the Sun. The Sun continuously provider the energy to the entire universe. The diameter of Sun is 13 Lakh Kms (100 times more than that of earth) the temperature on the surface of the sun is 5700 degree C. This surface relentlessly and stupendously exerts energy at 3.7X10 watts per second. The heat present in the sunrays enhances the speed of the water cycle. This heat energy provides the necessary ingredients which enhanced movements and efficiency of all the living beings. The solar energy generates the electric power which leads to industrial developments.       

The ultra-violet rays from sunlight in combination with chlorophyll help plants to develops their own food & ultimately to the mankind. The morning sunlight purifies our Vastu and helps to freshen up our surrounding. However the intense heat in the afternoon may prove dangerous to human being. If the fire element is properly installed in our kitchens in the South East direction then it leads to enhancement of our progress. It improves the overall efficiency of women and their health. Thus every movement of our body, and action reaction and reflexes are due energy (calories) from fire element. 

 Air: Wind means air. Air means oxygen. Air is dynamic. Air is the carrier of fragrance. Air is creator of good atmosphere and it is considered that air reviles the stress without air we cannot sustain for few movements. Air is made up of 78% Nitrogen, 21% oxygen and remaining 1% of carbon dioxides, sulphur dioxides and a mixture of many other harmful elements. If human beings and animals do not receive air even for a second they may die due to suffocation. We can sustain without food for some days, even without water for some hours but we cannot live without air even for a second.  
Every second we inhale the air through our nose. Our lungs absorb the oxygen required and they exhale the unwanted elements.  Later the same oxygen is mixed with our blood by our heart. This oxygen is distributed to each and every tissue cells by red blood cells. Thus every cell relieves the oxygen, which is necessary of its functioning.This indecision leads to arguments. Air is considered as a carrier of fragrance; however it also carries the smell and can even increase or decreased its intensity. Air also carries the fragrance of perfumes and incense stick. Too fragrance as well as the proper ventilation system rejuvenate us and make the environment pleasant. If there is no proper ventilation then it can lead to suffocation and it affects our eminence.   
The plants breathe as well. In the day time exhale the oxygen and the night they exhale carbon dioxide. By absorbing the nitrogen in the air they prepare their food in other words they create food for human beings. The air flows continuously and is never static. This dynamism either provides the speed to an action or may lead to instability, uncertainty or lead to indecisive thought.    
Thus the air elements affect our mind and body to a great extent. It may lead to imbalance of mind and character, which may affect our relationship, may lead to communication gaps, fights and disputes. Therefore as Vaastushastra it is of prime importance to have healthy air element to e strong relationship & better understanding with everyone. 

 Sky: The sky means cavity, an element which is colossal, external and which pervaded the universe the planets and the earth. An element each is a reality. The element of sky has incorporated in itself the entire solar system, the nine planets and crores of other stars and planets.
The element of sky has thus included in itself the entire universe. We believe that sky surrounds the earth however it also surrounds the star and planets in the universe.     In the human body the sky element is located at the navel and in the form of knot. Through this navel in the human body ties up the entire body and all human organs together. The element of sky performs the same function in nature. There are many cavities in human body like mouth, nose, ears the cavity in every organ, in every joint and all these cavities 'represent the sky element. If we divide our vastu in nine parts, then the part at the center is where the element of sky resides and is known as a place of divine Brahmatatva.
