We plan to put our home up for sale (and hopefully sell), then rent until something comes up to buy. (is this logical?) . Are these difficult to get out of ? What does a person do if they find a home before their lease term is up?

Yes it is true that Leases are normallu for 11 months. But money talks. Agreement can be made in such a way that you can move out before 11 months and informaing the owner/lessor atleast a month prior, the lessor may consider it. Maybe you could take more of his risk by agreeing to continue paying the lease until a suitable new lessee is found or some where in between. Leases are negotiable.
