Home Loans: IS Occupancy Certificate required by all banks for home loans?

    I have applied to SBI/HDFC for home loans. But manager insisting OC copy of building of proposed flat(Resale). However I have inquired with BMC. They confirmed that water chrgs and assessemnt receipts are available to prove that OC is granted but as the Building is 25 yr old, copy is not available with society.

    Is every nationalised bank need OC copy as required document?

    OC copy is to ensure Municipal Compliance and need not be a mandatory reqmt of all banks
    ICICI/HDFC do not ask it unless its for new construction....
    SBI is strict and so is HDFC Ltd
    then in that case once Society is formed and registered and that copy is missing from records
    u can have the secretary write that we have it on Soc L/Head attest it and give it to the bank
    they should have no problem.....
