    Dear Sir/ Madam,
Recently I purchased a 2BK flat in Mumbai with an area of 820 sq. ft. which includes the verandah shared between me and my adjacent neighbour. We had decided to install metallic grills at the end of the verandah as a security measure. Our builder had confirmed that we have the space to ourselves. However, my society has asked us to get the grills removed or to keep them open fully saying that the grills spoil the aesthetics.
Please do advice about my legal options as I am currently paying the society charges on the whole 820 sq. feet area.

    Regards,
    Sunil Kumar

You can keep this matter on hold till the general body meeting of your co-op housing society.
Later in the meeting you can politely take the views of all the members and justify your point of security to install the grills.
The society have right to interfere in case the building structure has been altered by you which can cause serious problem.... but theres no law which states that there should be no grills in your balcony.

Do not throw legal notice for small issue as you need to stay there for long... sometimes nice words do the trick :)
